The formal launch of Theatre of the Damned at the Camden Fringe with a sell-out run of two classic Grand Guignol dramas in an evening of violence and terror.

‘visually unsettling…I genuinely didn’t want to look’ – A Younger Theatre

A man, his face dissolved by acid, waits in the dark for his beautiful betrayer. A young virgin, trapped in a prison for the criminally insane, is tormented by monstrous visitations. As night falls, both scenes end in unspeakable horror. Two brutal, forgotten dramas are brought to nerve-shredding life.

The show demonstrated the effectiveness of straight and visceral performances of two of the most famous Grand Guignol scripts, as well as the potential for a future expansion of Theatre of the Damned’s repertoire.

The evening consisted of the following entertainments.

A Kiss Goodnight (Le Baiser dans la nuit) - by Maurice Level – Translated by Alice Saville and Tom Richards

Blæck Men†al – a new video artwork by Sangam Sharma

Crime in a Madhouse (Un crime dans une maison de fous) – By André de Lorde and Alfred Binet – Translated by Tom Richards
